Geography Literacy
Use the News to Make Geography Connections
Broaden students' global awareness with this discussion-based, geography literacy program.

As the US population becomes more diverse and our government becomes involved with all continents, students should gain exposure to and make connections to countries appearing in their text as well as the news. This high-interest, year-long program will give students a glimpse of life in Africa, Eurasia, South America, and the Middle East which will encourage lively discussion and independent research.

This program is being offered by NIE in collaboration with Connecticut Geographic Alliance and Yale's PIER (Programs in International Educational Resources).
